Challenged to a drag race...
by Jim_TX inwell, this weekend, i went on an outing with the wife to see the sights.
we went up to austin, georgetown, and then across to lampassas - where i filled up with fuel at a local station.. on the way to the hotel we were staying at, a pimple-faced kid in a honda pulls up alongside me, and gives me this 'staredown' look.
very serious this kiddo.

Not really. I liked FredomFrog's description of her "artist" world. It used to be that way for me but for years and years everything is just bland and nondescript. Muddling through I suppose as if I'm merely a bystander. It just doesn't matter. Or, to put another way, "Why bottha?"

Do you save files to CD and then forget what is on the CDs?
by Lady Lee ini have a shelf full of cds that had to be searched individually every time i needed something.. well i have the program for you.. visual cd.
this nifty little freeware program will read all the file titles on a cd, your hard drive or just 1 folder and creates an index.
you can then save the index.

I'll have to try that out but not only do I have CD's & DVD's by the handfuls that I have no idea what is on them, I have a few Hard Drives from bygone computers that I need to pull things off of. It's going to be a job but I've got to get it done and get myself organized!!

When I was little I saw a movie with Vincent Price - "The Last Man On Earth". Scared me enough so that I always remembered it. Saw it on ebay or amazon a while back and bought it. Geesh I must've been an easily scared kid!! lol

I bemoaned the fact that even if 1976 should roll around, most assuredly SuperBowl X would be the last football game to ever be played. Talk about scare!!
Gee, how many years ago has it been now? Ah, yes...SuperBowl 42 is next I believe. Now THAT's SCARY!!!! -

I like your window view Leolaia. Peaceful looking.
and the cat on the computer...my kitten looks a lot like him but likes to lay on the mousepad rather than the keyboard; so far. -

An Odd Memory from a Score and Three-Quarters back.....
by AK - Jeff inon my return today with some lunch delicacies and a grand bottle of gewurztraminer to wash it smoothly, i recalled some events from 35 years back that clearly reflect the apocalyptic mindset of the jdubs in the pre-armageddon years.. the brother of the fellow who brought me this glorious good news that jehovah's witlesses were the 'truth' once took me to his bedroom to show me a small area on his wall that had been repaired by his father recently.
before they replaced the drywall and painted, marvin elected it prudent to prepare a gift kit for that wall that included a copy of the new world translation and a copy of the truth book.
his plan was that in the sudden destruction that was to come in the form of the great tribulation, he might have all his literature confiscated, and he could simply kick the panel out of the wall and be duly served with 'spiritual food from jehovah'.. i must have been correctly impressed with the need to 'heed the day and times and seasons', for a few months later, having left my family home due to 'worldly influence' of my non-witless family and inactive mother, i was speaking with the elderly sister who had offered me sanctuary so that i might 'declare the truth' as a pioneer.

I did know an elder that said he had a bible hidden away so when the GT came he would still have access to one. I thought it was weird then, I still do. Don't they have any of this stuff memorized YET? What possible good would....oh, nevermind. Can't figure out the inner workings of the illogical. I didn't know it was a widespread idea among them but I shouldn't be surprised.
